SiGs we have spawned
Throughout the club’s existence we have created quite a collection of Special Interest Groups (SiGs). These are wide ranging going all the way from modern jets to steam powered paraphernalia. Membership to the SiGs isn’t compulsory for club members or even limited to club members, but we do like to build for them on occasion to show our support. Plus it means there is more space available at shows to show off your masterpieces.
If you want to know more about a particular SiG, even if you’re not a club
member, then feel free to use the contact option below for the SiG you’re interested
in.
Steam SiG
The Steam SIG covers a range of topics from the early days of steam locomotives to the days of steam before dreadful diesel locomotives took over. We also include other aspects of steam including steam ships, traction engines, stationary engines and steam turbines. Find us on Facebook if you are interested in joining. The SIG will display at Scale Model World along with a few other shows through the season.
Leopard SiG
A group for like minded people interested in the Leopard MBT/ARV used by various nations throughout the world. These tanks are very important in the overall history of military vehicles and have been woefully neglected by the plastic model industry.
Star Wars SiG
The newly formed Star Wars SIG was launched to make the most of the massive interest in this unstoppable juggernaut of a movie franchise as well as the hundreds of kits dedicated to the subject. Forty years on from the original film and the fanbase is as big as ever and the new trilogy will only increase this. The SIG will show at the IPMS Nationals in Telford. So sign up and May the Force be with you. Always.
Gerry Anderson SiG
The newly formed Gerry Anderson SIG has been formed to showcase all of the vehicles and figures used in all the TV shows and films throughout his long career.
F-14 Tomcat SiG
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was an American supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat, twin-tail, variable-sweep wing screaming arrow of death. The newly formed F-14 Tomcat SiG has been set up to honour this iconic aircraft. Once the mainstay of the US Navy Fleet it served from 1974 to 2006. As well as being used primarily for Combat Air Patrol it was later modified into the F-14 Bombcat. Immortalised in the film Top Gun, this legend of the skies continues to “Feel the need for Speed”
Tornado SiG
The International Plastic Modellers Society (IPMS) Panavia Tornado Special Interest Group (SIG). A place to find scale model kit reviews, reference information, photos, up-to-date Tornado news and Tornado modelling news and a place to meet and chat with fellow Tonka fans. A group for scale model makers of all abilities with an interest in the Panavia Tornado.
