I’ve been building kits for about 50 years, and I’ve almost got the hang of it. Did some as a young teenager then destroyed them with an air gun or a penny banger – a fitting end to my feeble attempts. My first ‘serious’ kit was the 1:48 Tamiya A-10 (Ed – BRRRRRRRRRRT!), followed by the Tamiya 1:48 Lancaster. Some 1:48 Monogram kits were added to the list. In those days I could buy and build at the same rate. Soon, buying streaked ahead of the building, hence the stash in the loft.
Membership of IPMS Clubs greatly improved my efforts. In the past I have been a member of several clubs including IPMS Cleveland having returned to the North East on retiring.
I write for various magazines for some time, most notably Model Airplane International. My main interests are aircraft, cars and bikes with the occasional ship and armour.
