Welcome to IPMS Cleveland
IPMS Cleveland was founded by a group of keen modellers to provide a club for those with an active interest in scale modelling, who live in the North East including Teesside, North Yorkshire, North Riding, County Durham and surrounding areas.
The aim of the club is to encourage and promote the popular pastime of scale modelling, which is as popular as ever and currently going through something of a ‘golden age’.
We're always looking to recruit new members so if you're just a beginner or an experienced modeller, or just a lonely modeller, please come along to one of our meetings and check us out; we would love to meet you. We can't promise to solve your relationship issues but you can at least come and talk to like-minded individuals who are also self-confessed plastic crack addicts!
Even though we do function as a branch of IPMS(UK) we always welcome non IPMS members. There won't be any pressure to become a member but we will obviously explain the benefits of joining IPMS. These are wide-ranging and include a bi-monthly magazine and free entry into Scale ModelWorld held yearly at Telford; to name but a few.
We regularly exhibit at many model shows in the local area, even venturing as far afield as Hinckley and Milton Keynes. We have even managed to make the trip north of the border to attend Scale Scotland and returned unscathed, as well as paying a visit to E-day in Prague. An ever present at the annual ‘Scale Model World’ at Telford, our impressive and varied display always draws praise from visitors, the modelling press and fellow IPMS branches alike. Check out our models by clicking on the gallery.
The club is home to a multitude of modelling styles and interests, and has spawned a number of ‘Special Interest Groups’ (SIGs) whose leaders are part of the club. These cover such interests as the Israeli Defence Force (IDF), UK & Commonwealth Armed Forces (UKCAF), Tornado SIG (The jet not the highly destructive natural phenomena!), The Leopard SIG (The German tank, not the big spotted cat!) and the newly formed Star Wars SIG (The force goes with them!). We are also ‘friends’ with the Luftwaffe SIG and the Lightning SIG (The jet not the big sparky thing in the sky!).
Generally at meetings most members will bring along models that they are either working on or have recently finished. Other members are always happy to offer help and advice, and even provide spare part or decals when one has what another wants!
If you would like to get in touch for more information about the club please visit the IPMS UK page for contact information
Meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month at Sunnyfield House in Guisbrough (information on about us page). They are held from 19:30 until 21:30 although they are usually followed by a short visit to a local public house.
